I don't know where I found this recipe but it is delicious. I usually double it and freeze half.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 1/2 cups onions, diced
1 1/2 cups potatoes, diced
1 cup carrot, diced
1 bay leaf
1 cup tomato
4 teaspoons salt
6 beef bouillon cubes
1 cup cabbage, cut
1 1/2 quarts water
1/4 cup rice
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 dash cayenne
Directions:
1. Brown meat and onions in pan, stirring with fork to break up meat. Drain grease well.
2. Add all vegetables except finely cut cabbage.
3. Add seasonings and meat to water in a large pot. Bring to boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
4. Add rice. Simmer for 45 minutes.
5. Add cabbage, simmer another 45 minutes. Stir frequently.
6. Serve with grated cheese. Tastes even better the next day.
