A clipped recipe. Dinner in a hurry,comfort food that just needs a green salad to complete the meal.
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 tablespoons flour
salt and pepper
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup swiss cheese
2 cups cooked ham, cubed
1 cup cooked potato, cubed
1 1/2 cups soft breadcrumbs
Directions:
1. In a ovenproof saucepan,melt 2 tbsp butter and saute onions until softened, about 3 minutes.
2. Blend in flour salt and pepper,then slowly add in milk,stirring constantly.
3. Cook until thickened.
4. Stir in cheese until melted.
5. Add ham and potatoes,mixing gently.
6. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and dot with remaining butter.
7. Bake in oven preheated to 400F degrees for 30 minutes.
8. *Use a food processor to turn day old chunks of bread into soft bread crumbs;do not use fine dry bread crumbs.*.
