everyone always asks for this salad & it's almost embarrassing how easy it is. we always have the ingredients on hand.
Ingredients:
1 head iceberg lettuce (substitute red tip)
1 head romaine lettuce
1 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup sugar
1 red onion, sliced very thin
2 cans chilled mandarin oranges, drained
1 cup safflower oil
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
red pepper
1 tablespoon parsley
Directions:
1. carmelize almonds in sugar& cool.
2. Toss torn lettuce with almonds, oranges& onion.
3. Dress lightly with salad dressing& serve.
