Green Chile Chicken Soup

A New Mexican favorite.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
3 cups chicken broth
2 cups chicken, cooked, shredded
1/2 cup chopped green chili pepper
1 pinch garlic powder
salt & pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. In a large pot, melt butter.
2. Add flour and stir paste over medium heat.
3. Add milk and chicken broth and whip to eliminate lumps.
4. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer.
5. Add remaining ingredients.
6. Stir well, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
