Green Beans With Bacon And Onion Sauce

Bacon and green beans were just made for each other! Nice tart, German recipe that goes so well with beef or pork roasts. Been making this for over 30 years!
Ingredients:
1 lb. green beans, fresh or frozen - i use fresh
1 c. boiling salted water
6 slices bacon, diced
1 small onion, chopped
1 t. flour
salt and pepper to taste
1 - 1 1/2 t. vinegar
Directions:
1. Cook beans in salted water, drain & save liquid. Saute bacon; add onion & cook until soft. Discard all but 1 T. bacon grease - stir in flour and cook until lightly browned. Add 1 c. liquid and cook until sauce is smooth. Add vinegar and pour sauce over beans.
