Greek Ouzo Cake

One of the best of it's kind. Worth the effort
Ingredients:
cake
2 sticks (1 cup) butter, melted and cooled
6 large eggs, well beaten
2 teaspoons baking soda, dissolved in the beaten eggs
1 cup finely copped, sliced almonds
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup plain yogurt (i use greek yogurt)
2 ounces ouzo
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
syrup
3 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
1/2 of-or-1 whole lemon, sliced
4 cinnamon sticks
10 whole cloves
Directions:
1. FOR CAKE:
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
3. Grease a 9x13x2 inch baking pan.
4. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together with a mixer.
5. Put mixture into the greased pan.
6. Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out
7. clean.
8. FOR SYRUP:
9. Put all ingredients in medium saucepan and slowly boil for 30
10. minutes.
11. Cool, take out lemon, cinnamon sticks, and whole cloves, and pour
12. syrup over hot cake.
