Adapted from the American Diabetes Association. About 72 g cholesterol per serving. soybean or canola oil, boneless pork chops, Granny Smith apples, dry white wine, brown sugar, cider vinegar, cornstarch or arrowroot powder, Worcestershire sauce, cvt
Ingredients:
1 tsp soybean oil
1 1/2 lb boneless pork, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 1/2 lb granny smith apples (about 3 large), cored and sliced into 1/2 inch wedges
1 cup dry white wine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
3 tablespoons cornstarch (or arrowroot flour)
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork and brown on all sides. Add the apple slices and sauté for 3 minutes. Add 1/2 cup of the wine, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
2. Mix the other 1/2 cup of wine together with the remaining ingredients and add to the skillet. Add freshly ground pepper and salt to taste. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens.
3. Note: Original recipe called for canola oil. About 72 g cholesterol per serving.
