This is so easy to make and the red casing makes it look very festive. I like to add chopped chives or green onions and garlic to it for even more flavor.
Ingredients:
1 gouda cheese ( about 8oz)
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon dry white wine or apple juice
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
2 to 3 drops red pepper sauce
Directions:
1. Unwrap cheese; let stand at room temperature until softened.
2. To form petals, make four 2 1/2 inch intersecting cuts in top of cheese ball. Be sure to cut completely through plastic casing. Carefully pull back each section of casing, curling point around finger.
3. Scoop out cheese, leaving a 1/4-inch wall. Refrigerate shell.
4. Mash cheese with fork; blend in milk, wine, mustard and red pepper sauce.
5. Fill shell with cheese mixture. Cover; refrigerate at least 3 hours.
6. One hour before serving, remove cheese from refrigerator to soften.
