Ingredients:
1 cup raw long grain rice
1 tbs oil or butter
2 cups water or chicken stock
few stands of saffron ( nice but not necessary )
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup soft raisins or softened dried cranberries
1/4 cup slivered almonds
salt and pepper as desired.
Directions:
1. Heat raw rice in pan with oil or butter stirring constantly a few minutes to color rice a pale golden.
2. Add the water or broth along with saffron and a tsp salt and bring mixture to a boil.
3. Cover and simmer until rice has absorbed the liquid.
4. Remove from heat and let sit 5 minutes.
5. Add nuts and raisins and stir and fluff with a fork ( not spoon ) and season to taste.
