Mom's recipe. A favorite!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup molasses
2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
granulated sugar
Directions:
1. Mix together shortening, sugar, egg and molasses.
2. Mix together flour, salt and spices and add to shortening mixture.
3. Make into small balls and roll into granulated sugar.
4. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 8-10 minutes at 350.
