These are wonderful bars that a friend served one morning for the snack time after the church service.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 large egg
3 tablespoons light molasses
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon clove
Directions:
1. Blend together ingredients until dough forms.
2. Press into bottom of greased 9x13 pan.
3. Brush with water.
4. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
5. Bake at 350° F for 20-30 minutes.
6. Cool and cut into squares.
