This is a recipe from a cookbook called 250 Classic Recipes.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup real maple syrup
1/2 cup sour milk
1 well beaten egg
1 cup broken walnuts
1 dash nutmeg
Directions:
1. Sift first 8 ingredients together.
2. Combine shortening, maple syrup,sour milk and egg.
3. Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients, beat well and pour into greased pan.
4. Sprinkle walnuts and additional cinnamon over top and bake in 350 degrees,about 30 minutes.
5. Cut into squares,top with whipped cream and garnish with a dash of nutmeg.
