Ingredients:
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) butter
1 egg
1 cup(s) molasses
2 1/2 cup(s) flour
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1 teaspoon(s) ginger
1/2 teaspoon(s) cloves
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together the 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 c butter. Beat in 1 egg and molasses.
2. In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Blend in the creamed mixture and stir in 1 C HOT water. Mix well and pour into a greased and floured 9 square pan, prepared cupcake pans or double reciepe for a 9x13 pan. Bake 350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool. Dust with powdered sugar or flost with your favorite cream cheese frosting.
