From Grandma's Molasses
Ingredients:
1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon clove
1 cup boiling water
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F.
2. Beat butter with sugar and molasses.
3. Mix in egg.
4. Sift dry ingredients and add to wet mixture, alternately with water, until just combined.
5. Bake in greased 9 inch square pan 40 minutes.
