My mother used to make this when I was little and served it with sliced bananas, a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a dollop of Cool Whip. OOHHHH SO GOOD!
Ingredients:
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup boiling water
Directions:
1. Mix ingredients in order listed, dissolving soda in boiling water.
2. Bake in an 9 x 13 glass pan, which has been greased and floured at 350° for 40 minutes.
