Delicious cookie! Needs 2 hours to chill the dough.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup shortening, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup molasses
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup hot water
1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
1. Beat shortning and sugar until smooth.
2. Beat in egg and molasses well.
3. Mix hot water and soda.
4. Sift dry ingredients together.
5. Add to creamed mixture alternately with soda water.
6. Chill for 2 hours.
7. Drop by tsp 2 inches apart on greased sheet.
8. Bake at 375* for about 8 minutes, until lightly browned.
