This is such a wonderfully tasty pie that is so simple to make and it pretty much no fail. It is made with pecans, but I actually prefer walnuts. There is just something about chocolate and walnuts. Yummy! Oh, the recipe comes from my all time favorite cookbook-Virginia Hospitality. I hope you will enjoy.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoons good cocoa
1 pinch salt
2 eggs
3 tablespoons melted butter
2/3 cup milk
3/4 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup pecans (walnuts)
1 teaspoon real vanilla
9 inches unbaked pie shells
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Combine sugar, cornstarch, flour, cocoa, and salt.
3. Add eggs, butter and milk, then coconut, nuts and vanilla.
4. Pour into pie shell and bake 35-40 minutes.
5. Top will be crusty and firm.
