Ingredients:
1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
4 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 cup red onion, separated into rings
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. in 3 qt saucepan place beans and bacon; add enough water to cover, bring to a full boil, cover, cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until beans are crispy tender, drain.
2. return beans to pan; add remaining ingredients, cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until onion is crispy tender.
3. serve hot.
