Galician Soup (Caldo Gallego)

Ingredients:
1 lb haricot beans
3 potatoes
ham bone
1/2 ounce lard or 1/2 ounce dripping
1 -2 beef bone
1/2 ounce flour
1 small cabbage
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Soak the beans in water for some hours.
2. Put them in a saucepan with 2 qts. water and the bones; bring to the boil and simmer gently for about 3 hours.
3. After 2 hours add the finely shredded cabbage, the peeled and quartered potatoes and the fat and flour, mixed; season to taste and simmer for a further hour.
