Delicious trifle with layers of fresh fruit, pudding, whipped cream, and cake. This desert is quite pretty when served in a clear glass trifle bowl. I like to make it with chocolate cake, vanilla pudding, strawberries, kiwis, and blackberries, but you can use any kind of fruit, cake, and pudding combination you'd like.
Ingredients:
1 (18 1/4 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
3 eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
1/3 cup oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
1 1/3 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup cold water
1 (3 1/2 ounce) package vanilla instant pudding mix
2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 cups strawberries, chopped
2 cups blackberries
2 kiwi fruits, peeled and chopped
Directions:
1. Prepare and cook cake mix according to package directions.
2. Cool completely on wire rack.
3. After cake has cooled, crumble enough cake to measure 8 cups, then set aside (You will only be using 8 cups of cake for recipe).
4. In large bowl, whisk the milk, water and pudding mix for two minutes.
5. Let stand for two minutes, or until soft-set.
6. Fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture.
7. Spread 2-1/2 cups pudding & whipped cream mixture in bottom of a 4-qt. glass trifle bowl.
8. Cover mixture with half of the crumbled cake, then sprinkle cake with one tablespoon orange juice.
9. Place half of fruit on top of the cake.
10. Repeat pudding and cake layers, then sprinkle top layer of cake with remaining orange juice.
11. Top with remaining pudding mixture.
12. Spoon remaining fruit around edge of trifle bowl.
13. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve, then enjoy!
