Another of Nestle Toll House great recipes for cookies - very, very good!!
Ingredients:
2 cups nestle toll house semisweet chocolate morsels, divided
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Microwave 3/4 cup morsels in small, microwave-safe bowl; stir. Microwave at additional 10-20 second intervals, stirring until smooth; cool to room temperature.
3. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl.
4. Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in melted chocolate and egg. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in 3/4 cup morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
5. Bake for 8-9 minutes or until edges are set but centers are still slightly soft. Cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool immediately.
6. FOR THE CHOCOLATE FROSTING: Microwave remaining 1/2 cup morsels and 2 tablespoons butter or margarine in medium, microwave-safe bowl on high for 30 seconds; stir until smooth. Microwave at additional 10-20 second intervals, stirring until smooth. Add 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk; stir until smooth. Thinly frost the centers of each cookie.
