It does not contain frogs. It was named after the little town of Frogmore SC (St Helena Island, SC). The post office canceled service to Frogmore and just rolled it into Beaufort, SC. Also called Low Country Boil. Read more . We celebrate the beginning of summer every year with this dish, and invite all the neighbors. We also traditionally cook it on the evening of the last day of school for the kids.
Ingredients:
6 quarts water
3/4 cup old bay seasoning (standard used in the carolina's but any kind of crab boil season will work)
2 pounds new red potatoes
2 pounds hot smoked sausage links, cut into 2 inch pieces
12 ears corn - husked, cleaned and quartered
4 pounds large fresh shrimp, unpeeled
Directions:
1. Bring water and Old Bay Seasoning to boil in a large stockpot (very large).
2. Add potatoes and cook for 15 minutes.
3. Add sausage and cook for 5 minutes more.
4. Add corn and cook for another 5 minutes.
5. Stir in the shrimp and cook until shrimp are pink, about 5 minutes.
6. Drain immediately and serve.
