Fried Mozzarella Nuggets

These nuggets are easy to make, fry in no time, and are versatile as far as seasoning. You may add other seasonings to the Italian bread crumbs or use plain bread crumbs and add other seasonings.
Ingredients:
8 oz. string cheese sticks or regular mozzarella, room temperature
1/2 c. flour
salt & pepper, to taste
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 c. italian bread crumbs
light olive oil, for frying
marinara, for dipping (optional)
Directions:
1. Cut cheese sticks into thirds or mozzarella into 1 x 1 chunks.
2. Place flour on plate and season with salt and pepper.
3. Beat egg in bowl.
4. Place crumbs on plate.
5. Roll cheese chunks in flour to coat.
6. Dip cheese into egg and roll in crumbs.
7. Arrange on baking sheet. Let stand for 15-30 minutes.
8. Pour oil into skillet to 1 depth. Heat over medium-high heat.
9. When hot, carefully lower cheese into oil and fry until golden, about 30 seconds.
10. Remove from oil and drain on wire racks. (Paper towels will stick to cheese.)
11. Serve with marinara or other sauce of your choice.
