Fried Fish in Batter

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fillets fish
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp white wine
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 small onion, sliced thin
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Cut the fish in serving pieces and lay flat in a dish. Mix oil, wine, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Pour over the fish. Lay slices of onion on top of fish. Let soak for 1 hour. Remove fish and drain on paper towels. Make a batter of flour, milk, egg, salt and pepper. Dip fish into batter, covering all sides. Fry in hot fat and drain on paper before serving. Serve with tartar sauce.
