Fresh Pear Breakfast Bread

This is from an old Oregon Jr. League Cookbook and although I haven't tried it yet I'm looking forward to making it soon.
Ingredients:
2 fresh bartlett pears, about 2 cups
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup wheat germ
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup honey
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions:
1. Core and finely dice pears, but do not peel. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda. Stir in wheat germ. Beat egg slightly and blend with milk, oil, and honey. Add to dry ingredients along with pears. Stir until mixed.
2. Make streusel topping by combining all ingredients and mixing until crumbly.
3. Pour batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Sprinkle with streusel topping. Garnish with additional pear slices, if desired. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
