French Toast The Right Way

No offense to all those moms out there who make French Toast for their kids. You are doing it wrong. My mom did it wrong too. French Toast is crispy and rich in taste, not soggy. Ingredients:
2 eggs
1/2 cup half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 slices day-old stale bread (french bread is great)
butter
maple syrup
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400
2. Put eggs, half and half, vanilla and salt into a large bowl and whisk together to make a custard like mixture.
3. Put slices of bread in mixture, coating each piece and letting them sit in the bowl until all the custard in absorbed (about 5 minutes)
4. Add some butter to a skillet on medium high heat and brown all 6 pieces of toast.
5. Remove from skillet and transfer to a baking sheet
6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until crispy
7. Drizzle with maple syrup (no need for powdered sugar)
