This is a wonderful bread to offer when you have family over the holidays such as Thanksgiving or Christmas. It's quick, easy and while your family is opening gifts the wonderful aroma of fresh fruits and cinnamon will be taking over your kitchen! Read more ! Enjoy.
Ingredients:
1 loaf of french bread
5 large eggs
2 1/2 cups of milk
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon
*for the next day only
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
2 cups of frozen fruits of your choice, (strawberries, blueberries and berries)
Directions:
1. Mix together in a large bowl, the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg or cinnamon if you choose.
2. Slice the loaf of bread in thick slices and keep them together. Arrange the loaf in a greased 9 x 13 pan. Slowly pour between each slices the mixture of eggs..and on top of bread.
3. Cover with saran wrap for 8 hours.
4. The next morning, let stand for 30 minutes.
5. Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar with 1/4 cup of melted butter. Pour on top of your bread.
6. Cook for 30 minutes at 400 degrees uncovered.
7. Add the 2 cups of unfrozen fruits on top, and continue baking for another 15 minutes or until the fruits are cooked.
8. You may serve with fresh maple syrup.
