This is a simple recipe. I always cook my rice with a microwave rice cooker. Fast, easy and foolproof rice. You may add leftover cooked pork, precooked bacon, drained cooked sausage.
Ingredients:
2 cups rice, washed and drained
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can campell's french onion soup
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup italian salad dressing
1/2 cup cooked bacon, pieces or 1 cup cut up pre- cooked pork or 1 cup cooked drained pork sausage
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
blanched minced green pepper (optional)
Directions:
1. Add all ingredients to rice cooker. Stir to mix.(Do not add optional ingredient).
2. Set microwave on 70% power for 12 minutes.
3. (My microwave is very high power so if it is under 1200 watts cook at least 14 minutes above.
4. Take out and stir lightly so the meat will be distributed.(This is the time if you want to add blanched minced green pepper).
5. Set microwave 70% power for 10 minutes.
6. (My microwave is very high power so if it is under 1200 watts cook at least 12 minutes).
7. Take out, let set for 10 minutes covered.
8. Place in serving dish.
9. Dot with margarine if you wish. No gravy needed. Very flavorable.
10. Note: You can use dry Lipton Onion Soup Mix but do not use the whole package. It will be too salty in combination with the italian salad dressing. Use a little more water also.
