Got this recipe from a co-workers wife who was a Super Spanish cook It's a smooth custard with a caramelized sauce
Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar
5 eggs well beaten
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 can water
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp grated lemon peel
Directions:
1. Place sugar in skillet and caramelize by cooking over medium heat
2. Stir constantly with wooden spoon till sugar melts and turns golden brown to medium brown
3. Pour and spread quickly in bottom and side of baking dish
4. Combine remaining ingredients in bowl
5. Mix well
6. Pour over caramelized dish
7. Place dish into another swallow pan filled with 1 water
8. Bake 1 hour or till knife (inserted 1/2 from middle) comes out clean
9. Loosen edges with spatula
10. Cool
