From the Minnesota Scandinavian chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947. Cooking time approximate.
Ingredients:
6 whole herrings (or fish of your choice)
salt and pepper, to taste
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 cup cream
butter, melted
Directions:
1. Skin herring; bone and grind.
2. Add seasonings and cream.
3. Form into balls and saute in butter.
