VERY similar to GREEN MILL's DESERT FIRE PASTA...(just add noodles!). It is a spicy pasta sauce and when used with fat free ingredients, is a low calorie, low fat pasta sauce with a kick! If used with fat free cream cheese, fat free ricotta cheese, fat free sour cream, and fat free half & half, your calorie/serving would go down to 116 and your total fat/serving would go down to 8.2. (keep in mind that other nutritional facts would also be altered, such as saturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, monounsaturated fats, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, etc.)
Ingredients:
2 tbsp parsley
1 tbsp italian seasoning
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp ground red pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup red bell peppers (sweet, canned)
1/4 cup jalapenos
1/4 cup ricotta cheese, fat free
1/4 cup sour cream, fat free
4 oz cream cheese, fat free
6 tbsp cream, (half & half) fat free
2 cups button mushrooms
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Directions:
1. In a blender, liquefy sweet red bell peppers, jalapenos, ricotta cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, and half & half.
2. In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil; when warm, add mushrooms and saute.
3. Add sauce in blender to mushrooms and olive oil, along with all of the spices/seasonings.
4. Sauce is ready when heated throughout.
5. Pour over your favorite (cooked) noodles and enjoy (I prefer the sauce with Linguine noodles).
6. Cayenne pepper and ground red pepper amounts may be reduced to taste (recipe as-is has a lot of heat to it).
7. This sauce is very tasty with shrimp or julienned chicken.
