Start dinner off with a bang! Cinnamon, Ginger, and Cayenne combine to make a lingering 'burns-so-good' feeling, that will have 'em stoking the flames with more! The shrimp is drizzled with a cinnamon and ginger infused mirin (sweetened sake). Read more . I serve it with a minty couscous to help cut the heat.
Ingredients:
1 lb shrimp, 20 count. peeled and deveined. tails on.
3/4 c. mirin
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cayenne (or to taste)
pinch of salt
3 tbsp canola oil
green onion flakes to finish
Directions:
1. In small saucepan over low heat, add mirin, ginger and cinnamon. Stir occasionally.
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil just until it begins to shimmer.
3. Toss shrimp in cayenne and salt, add to skillet and sauté for 5 minutes or until firm. Stirring often.
4. Shrimp are done when they turn a recognizable pink color and curl.
5. Remove from heat, drain excess oil, add about half of the mirin infusion.
6. Arrange shrimp on a plate, drizzle with mirin and top with green onion.
