Another favorite recipe that I like to fix occasionally when I am in the mood for hot and spicy foods. These are very tasty and in my opinion better at room temperature than cold, but good either way. Enjoy
Ingredients:
2 cups water
3/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon crushed mustard seeds
4 garlic cloves thinly sliced
4 bay leaves
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pound fresh green beans trimmed
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients except beans in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat.
2. Cover then reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
3. Add beans then cover and simmer 10 minutes until beans are cooked but still crisp.
4. Transfer beans and liquid to a shallow serving dish and refrigerate covered overnight.
5. Serve cold or at room temperature.
