Fete Noir 70 - Chocolate Cake

Similar to Bete Noir, a classic among rich and decadent chocolate cakes. This one comes with a hint of B&B liqueur for extra flavor. Perfect for Valentine's Day if you and your loved ones want to indulge in something sweet.
Ingredients:
8 ounces unsweetened chocolate
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate
1 cup butter, soft
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
5 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon b&b liqueur
Directions:
1. In a small pot, put 1 cup sugar and water. Bring to a boil and set aside.
2. Melt chocolates in a bowl over a pot of simmering water. Remove and stir in butter with a rubber spatula.
3. Then stir in sugar syrup in a slow steady stream. Stir in B&B Liqueur.
4. In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip eggs, sugar and salt until light and thick.
5. Fold eggs into chocolate mixture one half at a time.
6. Pour into a greased and papered 9” cake pan. Place in a larger pan with 1” of hot water.
7. Bake at 275° for about 40 minutes.
8. Let cool for 20 minutes and turn out onto cake plate or cardboard circle.
9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
10. Serve at room temperature.
