Fannie May Mint Fudge Brownies

Fudgy chocolate brownie on the bottom; heavenly green-mint creme in the middle; more fudge on top... Can life get any better?!
Ingredients:
for brownies
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons water
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 chopped nuts, if desired
for mint layer
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon mint extract
2 to 3 drops green food coloring
for top chocolate layer
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. BROWNIES:
3. Prepare 9 x 13-inch pan by spraying with nonstick cooking spray.
4. In large saucepan, cook 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, and 2 tablespoons water, stirring over medium-low heat until mixture comes to a boil.
5. Remove from heat.
6. Stir in 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips until melted and creamy.
7. Add the 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla and stir until smooth.
8. Combine flour and baking soda in mixing bowl.
9. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture and stir until well-blended.
10. Pour into prepared pan.
11. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until set and done.
12. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
13. MINT LAYER:
14. While brownies are cooling, prepare mint creme layer.
15. In large mixing bowl, beat 1 stick margarine, 2 cups confectioner's sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, mint extract, and green food coloring with electric mixer until creamy and smooth.
16. Spread mint creme over cooled brownies in pan.
17. Refrigerate until set while making top chocolate layer.
18. TOP CHOCOLATE LAYER:
19. In small saucepan over low heat, melt the 6 tablespoons margarine and 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, stirring until melted and smooth.
20. Spread evenly over refrigerated mint creme layer with rubber scraper or spatula.
21. Let cool at room temperature before cutting.
