1. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. Blend into butter/sugar mixture. Chill the dough at least one hour. Heat oven to 400. Roll the dough 1/8" thick on a lightly floured board. Cut with cookie cutters and cook on an ungreased baking sheet for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown. Don't use self-rising flour.
