Elaines Homemade Turkey Pot Pie In Phyllo Pastry

A delicious blend of turkey and vegetables, in a rich sauce makes this pie 'comfort food'!
Ingredients:
1 cooked turkey breast or thigh, skin on, cut into chunks
1 medium sized raw potato, cut into chunks
2 shallots, finely sliced
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 small turnip, cut into chunks
about 1/2 cup shredded raw carrot
about 1/2 cup raw green or wax beans
about 1/2 cup raw asparagus
salt and pepper to taste
about 2 tbsp oregano
1/2 tsp pure vanilla
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
chicken or turkey stock
rice flour
phyllo pastry
Directions:
1. In a medium sized pot, combine the stock with the garlic, raw vegetables and cut up turkey pieces
2. Add the vanilla, Worcestershire, oregano, mustard, salt and pepper
3. Cook until veggies are tender
4. Remove from heat
5. Thicken the juices remaining with rice flour
6. Arrange 6 layers of Phyllo pastry sheets, with melted butter between sheets.
7. Fold edges up, securing with melted butter
8. Bake the bottom crust at 350*F for 10 minutes.
9. Remove from oven.
10. Fill with the warm vegetables
11. Make a lattice top with strips of Phyllo pastry, coated with melted butter.
12. Bake at 350*F for 20 to 25 minutes.

15. The addition of the vanilla heightens the flavor of the finished dish.
