EGGS ROYALE I obtained this recipe from an estate sale when I purchased the family collection from the Varner Estate in Fort Worth, Texas in 1986. Ingredients:
2-1/2 cups seasoned croutons |
1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese |
4 eggs |
2 cups milk |
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon onion powder |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
10 bacon strips cooked and crumbled |
Directions:
1. Place croutons in a greased rectangular baking dish then cover with cheese. 2. In a bowl beat eggs, milk, mustard, salt, onion powder and pepper then pour over cheese. 3. Sprinkle with bacon then cover and chill overnight. 4. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. 5. Bake uncovered at 350 for 40 minutes then let stand 5 minutes before cutting. |
