Eggnog French Toast

Southern Living; a favorite made during Christmas season.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups commercial refrigerated eggnog
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
8 slices french bread, 1-inch thick
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons light rum
Directions:
1. Combine eggnog and nutmeg in a shallow dish.
2. Place bread slices in dish, turning to coat.
3. Melt butter in a large skillet.
4. Remove bread slices from eggnog mixture, allowing excess to drain.
5. Cook in skillet 3 minutes on each side or until golden.
6. Serve immediately with Rum sauce.
7. Rum Sauce: Combine ingredients in a saucepan; cook over low heat until heated, stirring often.
