The original recipe for this called for whipping cream to be added, but when I went to make this recipe up Christmas eve, my Hubby had picked up a can of whipped cream instead of whipping cream. So that ingredient was omitted. Read more . We also added a tsp or so of pumpkin pie spice...was wonderful!! Was so glad we tripled the recipe!
Ingredients:
6 eggs
1 can(s) (14 0z) sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 qt milk
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch salt
1 tsp pumkin pie spice (you may need a little more, it's really according to your taste)
Directions:
1. Thoroughly beat eggs. (make sure these are completely beaten. There is nothing worse for some people than to get a bit of unbeaten egg)
2. Mix in condensed milk, vanilla, milk and salt, and pumpkin pie spice
3. You can serve at this point, but our family warmed it over a low heat until hot, then chilled since it had raw eggs in it.
4. Sprinkle with Nutmeg
