Easy Pilau Rice

This rice is a wonderful addition to any indian dish I serve it with curry or chicken tandoori and a piece of naan bread ymmmm all my family love it.
Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
1 ounce butter
1 tsp turmeric
1 bay leave
4 green cardamom pods
4 cloves
1 tsp cummin
1/2 tsp saffron
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1 3/4 cups boiling water
Directions:
1. Soak rice in cold water for approx 30 then drain and rinse.
2. Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan.
3. Add in all the spices and salt.
4. Stir in the rice until it is coated in butter and spices.
5. Add in the boiling water.
6. Cover with a tight fitting lid and simmer for approx 15 minutes on the lowest heat setting. Do not stir in the meantime.
