This is a firm favourite in my household, my 3 year old daughter will even eat the sausages, its the only way I can get her to eat them, she doesn't really like meat! This recipe can be done in a slow cooker, but just for the time element I usually do it on the hob. Serve with mash potatoes and a selction of veg and ENJOY :)
Ingredients:
6 -8 sausages
1 large onion, diced
1 large garlic clove, crushed
1 (400 g) can chopped tomatoes
250 g smoked bacon, chopped
1 teaspoon dried herbs
1 beef bouillon cube
1 dash worcestershire sauce
1 pint water
1 pinch salt and pepper, to season
2 teaspoons cornflour
Directions:
1. On a low-medium heat, fry off the onion and garlic together in a frying pan until golden. Transfer to a large saucepan.
2. Fry off the bacon and sausages until brown, turning occasionally. While you are waiting, add all the other ingredients, except the cornflour, in with the onions.
3. Add the sausages and bacon and stir well.
4. Place on a medium heat and allow to cook for about a hour, stirring every so often.
5. About 20 minutes before serving, mix the cornflour with 1/4 pint of water, or until runny, and add to the casserole and stir well, to thicken the sauce.
