I have made up this recipe using trial and error - I make this after work and everyone loves it! I have also made this for guests and they rave! -Use only good quality jarred sauce ( my favorite is prego) -Chop the onions and garlic coarsely -I use 7-10% fat lean ground beef. -I keep red wine in the fridge ( a bottle that we opened and didnt finish) for pasta sauce -Use a heavy pot for the suace and stir often - do not let the sauce burn on the bottom of the pan -I use virgin olive oil
Ingredients:
3 lbs pasta sauce
1 1/2 lbs pasta sauce
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion
6 garlic cloves, chopped
3/4 cup red wine
Directions:
1. Pour all sauce (both bottles) into a heavy pot or Dutch oven. Start heating the sauce over med-low heat.
2. Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a sauté pan (medium heat) then sprinkle salt, pepper and parsley over. Cook the meat-chop up the meat as much as you can while cooking it- until cooked through. Then add the meat to the sauce.
3. Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in the same pan and sauté the garlic until cooked and slightly brown -don’t overcook. Then pour the garlic into the sauce.
4. Heat the remaining 1 Tbsp of olive oil into the same pan and sauté the onions until soft and light brown. Then add the onions to the sauce.
5. Pour the red wine into the sauce.
6. Simmer partially covered for 1 hour (mixing often) over low heat.
7. Serve over your favorite pasta - cooked al denté - sprinkle with grated parmesan.
