I've seen several different brands of beer bread mix recently, all of which retail for $4+. However, with 3 simple ingredients, you can create some of the most DELICIOUS bread you've ever tasted, beer or otherwise. Read more . And there's no yeast, so no rising, kneading, or anything like that. Just mix and pop in the oven! Best of all, it's so moist that you can reheat leftovers with ease, and it's just as good as straight out of the oven.
Ingredients:
3 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
12 oz. beer
note: light beer will yield a lighter texture and flavor. dark beer will yield a heavier texture with a more distinctively beer flavor.
Directions:
1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
2. Add beer. Mix dough until all dry ingredients are incorporated; dough will be sticky.
3. Use a spatula lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray to transfer the dough into greased bread pan. The dough is very sticky, so you likely won’t get an even, smooth surface, but that won’t affect how it cooks at all.
4. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 min or until lightly browned.
5. Brush your loaf with 2 T of melted butter when it first comes out of the oven.
6. Wrap any leftovers in saran wrap and reheat slices for about 10 seconds in the microwave. It will actually be just as good as fresh!
