This is one of my SIL's favorite desserts. She has so much willpower she can usually pass on dessert - but not when it has apples & cinnamon. Apple pies, cobblers and crisps definitely have her number. Put vanilla ice cream on top and she may just take the whole pan home with her. along with the rest of the ice cream, of course.
Ingredients:
10 -11 cups baking apples, sliced peeled
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
Directions:
1. Place apples in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.
2. Combine sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over the apples.
3. Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, baking powder, nutmeg and remaining cinnamon;.
4. cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
5. Sprinkle over apples.
6. Bake at 375 for 50-60 minutes or until apples are tender.
7. Yield: 12-16 servings.
