My Mom got this recipe from her friend Joetta. I hope Joetta doesn't mind my posting it here. These are a family favorite. Ingredients:
1/2 cup salted butter |
1 cup milk |
1 cup flour |
6 eggs |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees. 2. Melt the salted butter in a 9 by 13 glass casserole as the oven preheats. Don't burn the butter! 3. Combine remaining ingredients until liquid is a uniform consistency. A blender works great. 4. Pour mixture into the casserole with melted butter. 5. When oven is properly preheated, insert dutch babies. 6. Heat for 5-6 minutes. 7. Reduce heat to 400 degrees. 8. Heat for 5-6 minutes. 9. Reduce heat to 300 degrees. 10. Heat for 5-6 minutes. 11. Slice twice lengthwise and three times otherwise. 12. Serve, sprinkle with powdered sugar or lemon juice, serve with maple syrup. 13. DO NOTE! If you have a smaller oven, you may have to extend the cooking time at 400 degrees and decrease the cooking time at 300 degrees. I have a small oven, so I have to do it this way, or else the dutch babies cave in, and look ridiculous. |
