Dutch Apple Cake With Hot Lemon Sauce

Dutch Style apple cake with a sweet yet tart lemon sauce. A nice change of pace treat.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup butter, chilled
2/3 cup milk
1 egg, well beaten
4 sour apples
sugar
cinnamon
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups boiling water
1 lemon, juice and zest of
2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Mix and sift dry ingredients.
3. Cut in butter.
4. Add milk and egg, and mix quickly.
5. Spread dough in a shallow greased 8x8-inch pan.
6. Pare, core, and slice apples; press into dough.
7. Bake 30 minutes.
8. Serve with hot lemon sauce:.
9. In a saucepan, mix sugar and cornstarch.
10. Add boiling water, stirring constantly.
11. Cook 8 to 10 minutes.
12. Add zest, lemon juice, and butter.
13. Serve over Apple Cake.
