A recipe from my mother's collection - light and quick to make.
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, well beaten
1/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons shortening, melted or 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients.
2. Combine milk, egg, and oil and add to stew (should have at least 3 cups of liquid -–add boiling water if necessary).
3. Place cover on pot and cook for 15 minutes without removing cover.
4. Serve at once.
