This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Harrelson Estate in Detroit, Michigan in 1984.
Ingredients:
8 ounces cream cheese softened
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 package devil's food cake mix
3 eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 cup water
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350.
2. Grease and flour a rectangular pan.
3. In small bowl blend cream cheese, butter, sugar, cornstarch, egg, milk and vanilla.
4. Beat at highest speed until smooth and creamy then set aside.
5. In large bowl blend cake mix, eggs, oil and water until moistened.
6. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed then pour half of batter into pan.
7. Pour cream cheese mixture over batter spreading to cover.
8. Pour remaining batter over cream cheese.
9. Bake 350 for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
10. Cool completely and frost with your favorite fudge frosting then store in refrigerator.
