These are very good, moist brownies. The flavor combination is a winner! I made them yesterday and there are none left! Recipe is from Company's Coming.
Ingredients:
chocolate layer
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup margarine
butterscotch layer
1/2 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
icing
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar, packed
6 tbls. milk
3 cups icing sugar
drizzle
2/3 cup chocolate chips
2 tsp. oil
Directions:
1. CHOCOLATE LAYER
2. Beat eggs until foamy.
3. Add sugar, flour, nuts and salt.
4. Melt margarine and cocoa over low heat.
5. Add to egg mixture and blend well.
6. Spread into a greased 9x13 pan and set aside.
7. BUTTERSCOTCH LAYER
8. Cream margarine with brown sugar.
9. Add eggs and vanilla.
10. Beat until well mixed.
11. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
12. Spoon over chocolate layer in small blobs and spread as best as you can.
13. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
14. Let cool completely.
15. ICING
16. Bring margarine, brown sugar and milk to a boil. Simmer for 2 minutes and let cool.
17. Stir in icing sugar adding more sugar or milk if necessary to make a proper spreading consistency.
18. Spread over cooled brownies.
19. DRIZZLE
20. Melt chocolate chips and oil in top of double boiler. Drizzle randomly all over icing.
